Visit Delaware Brings Beach Volleyball to Firefly 2016

June 30, 2016 AT 8:18 am

DOVER, Del. (June 14, 2016) – The fun and feel of Delaware’s five-star beaches are coming to the Firefly Music Festival. New for the fifth year of the East Coast’s premier music event, Visit Delaware, as Firefly’s official tourism sponsor, is bringing sand volleyball courts to the camping area.

The two courts will be in the North Camping Hub. It is a prime location, easily accessible to any festivalgoers wanting to bump, set and spike throughout Firefly. The courts will feature tournaments and prizes from Visit Delaware along with giant Jenga, bocce ball, sand soccer and more. They will also be great places for attendees to hang out between sets.

Last year 90,000 people attended the festival, from all 50 states and more than 20 countries, and more than 60,000 of those people camped out during the event.

“This brings together two of Delaware’s top attractions – its beautiful beaches and its biggest music festival,” said Linda Parkowski, Delaware Tourism Director. “The state has so much for visitors to discover both before and after the four-day event. The sand volleyball court will serve as a reminder of that.”

“We’ve received incredible support from the team at Visit Delaware since the first year of Firefly,” says Alex Yount, Sponsorship Senior Manager at Firefly Music Festival. “Our tens of thousands of campers are going to benefit from the experience Visit Delaware is adding to the campgrounds, and we’re excited to help showcase why Delaware is a great state for anyone to add to their travel list.”

Firefly Music Festival is a 4-day music experience set among lush wooded landscapes. The 5th year festival features renowned headliners and emerging artists and allows guests to witness unforgettable performances and engaging attractions around every turn. Firefly Music Festival is the largest music festival on the east coast and a can’t-miss summer tradition for music fans from around the world. The 2016 lineup features Mumford & Sons, Kings of Leon, Florence & The Machine, Deadmau5, Ellie Goulding, Disclosure, Blink-182, Death Cab for Cutie, M83, Tame Impala, The 1975, A$AP Rocky, Of Monsters and Men, Major Lazer, Chvrches, Earth Wind & Fire, and more than 100 additional acts.
